Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Midwood Counseling offers a variety of counseling services including individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy.

During your first session with Midwood Counseling, your therapist will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process.

We are an out-of-network provider, so we are not in-network with any insurance companies. However, you may have out-of-network benefits for mental health services that can be used. To see if you have these benefits, we recommend you call the number on the back of their insurance card and ask the following questions:

  1. Does your plan include “out-of-network” coverage for mental health?
  2.  What is the reimbursement rate for an out-of-network mental health provider per session                       (once your deductible has been met?)
  3. What is your annual deductible for mental health benefits? How much of this deductible has currently been met?
  4.  Is there a limit on the number of sessions your plan will cover per year?

It is also helpful to find out how you can submit your Super Bills to your insurance, which Midwood Counseling will provide you with upon your request.

Session rates range based off of the type of session (i .e. individual, couples, or family). At our practice the rates range from $150-175.

The federal “No Surprises Act”grants consumers the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate”explaining how much their medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers, including psychotherapists, must give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for treatment services. The act also requires healthcare providers, including psychotherapists, to inform their clients of this right. Additionally, this act requires that information regarding the availability of a “Good Faith Estimate” must be prominently displayed on the website of all health care providers, including psychotherapists.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask all of your health care providers, including your therapist and other providers from whom you seek treatment, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/.
