Our Story

Our practice is named Midwood Counseling to honor the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, reflecting our connection and dedication to our community. This neighborhood is where our dream to create a practice of our own first began. 

We first crossed paths as mental health therapists in an agency setting where we strengthened our shared passion for working with clients navigating substance use disorders and mental health challenges. While we love our work in higher levels of care, we noticed a need for a longer continuum of care. We also recognize that not everyone fits criteria for or is able to access more intensive treatment. As we reflect on our work in agency-settings, we recognize the profound impact of structure, community involvement, and the client's support system on overall wellbeing. We hope to harness these aspects of wellness to provide clients with quality care at an outpatient level.
